Took Lorelai to see her pediatrician today for her two week check-up. I can’t believe it’s already been two weeks. Well, tomorrow will be two weeks, but yeah. Where did the time go?
She’s doing good, as expected. The nurse was amazed at how big she is. She couldn’t believe she was only two weeks old. She had to ask me what “two-week checkup” I was there for. I couldn’t help but giggle when I told her the baby was two weeks old.
So, she is 8 pounds 1 ounce today. Can you believe it? She’s already gained 7 ounces. She eats so much. It’s weird for us because Nikisha wasn’t like that. She was (and still is) a very light eater. That’s one thing these two girls don’t have in common.
She got her second PKG (i think that’s what it’s called) test done today. They pricked her foot so they could get blood samples. The lady must have pricked the wrong spot or something because baby didn’t bleed as much as was needed. The nurse had to keep squeezing her foot to get more blood. Poor baby wouldn’t stop crying and I just wanted to scoop her up and take her away. The nurse was having such a hard time that she had to have another nurse come in to finish it off. She had to prick baby’s foot a second time. Good thing that worked because I don’t know how much more poor baby could handle. Worse part was that later she kept crying in her sleep. The hurt cry.
On a happier note, I forgot to mention in my last entry that she can already hold up her head. She’s been doing it since she was only a couple days old. Not just holding it up for a second, but for a long time. I’m not too sure, but I thought babies didn’t do that for a while.
This morning she stayed awake for almost 2 hours straight. I got to feed her, change her, talk to her, play with her, sing to her all within that time. It was nice. Usually she eats, sleeps, poops, wakes up hungry. I get to wash her up and feed her and then she goes back to sleep. Then the cycle is repeated. Really was nice.
Received a Sling Rider from Taz & Clint today. Actually it came in a few days ago, but I wasn’t able to get it until today. So far I love it. Dave loves it even more. He made me laugh when he put it on and asked “so is this how it felt?”. Not even close. Thanks you guys. You’re always so generous. One day we’ll be able to return the generosity. One day.
