Every night she’d wake up at least once. Sometimes twice. On really bad nights, three or even four times she was up screaming her head off. We couldn’t figure out what it was that was waking her up all the time. She should be sleeping through the night, right?

Is she not eating enough at night? Let’s feed her more. Is she cold? Let’s put the warmest pj she has on her. Maybe it’s too quiet. We’ll put some soft music on.

Nothing worked and well after she should be sleeping through the night, she still woke up every few hours like a newborn. It was freaking us out but we didn’t have the insurance to take her to see a doctor.

She’s had a really bad skin problem the past six months or so. We’re not sure if it’s due to allergies or exzema. We covered her in moisturizer many times a day and then at night at bedtime. Just last week it looked like it was really clearing up. This week it is almost completely gone, and if it weren’t for a few light scars from all the scratching she had done when it got really bad, you might not even noticed she had anything at all.

The best part is that she’s slept through the night four nights in a row. Let’s just hope that I don’t jinx it by publishing this blog. We’d all really like to get some good nights’ sleep from now on.

At least until the scary dreams start.

When school was out for Niki, and summer began, I decided I would give potty training Maeby a shot. It started out easy enough and I thought I had it made. Until we started traveling and I’d forget the potty seat. Or she’d be too shy to go because we’re not home. Or I was just too busy to stick to the routine.

Feeling like a failure, I temporarily gave up. I decided that she, and I, aren’t ready. Besides, she was only 19 months old. I didn’t want to push her or myself because we might get too frustrated and set ourselves back.

Over the next few months, I would bring her into the restroom with me and just have her sit on the potty seat. Even big sissy joined in and brought her to the restroom when she had to go. I have to say, it was darned cute and made me proud that she was helping her sister. Still, she only “went” in the potty a few times over those months.

Until this past week.

Two days in a row she had pulled off her pull-ups when I wasn’t looking and peed on the floor a few feet from the restroom. I told the hubs about this and he wondered if she was trying to get into the restroom but couldn’t. So, when I wasn’t home, he took her to potty a couple of times when he noticed her pulling them down. Now?

Now she’s pulling off her pants and pull-ups and running over to the restroom. More and more she’s going in her potty. The cutest part, she’s shy! When she’s ready she looks at us, waves, and says “Bye. Bye!” When she’s done, she opens the door. It’s cute and I love it!

A little over a week ago I started putting you on the toilet for a few minutes a day to get you used to sitting there. You didn’t seem to have too much of a problem. I’ve also been allowing you to run around without your pull-ups so you can get used to landing on your butt without a diaper. You loved the feeling of being free and would run around with the happiest look on your face. Until I put a clean pull-up on you.

Whenever I think you’re about to poop, I pick you up to put you on the toilet. It never worked because you were actually finished before I’d pick you up. Today was different. I caught you on time. You pooped in the toilet for the first time. I know that this doesn’t mean you’ll catch on right away, but this mama can hope, right? At least if I figure out your usual routine, I could save on pull-ups, water and baby wash. If you’re potty-trained within the next few months, you daddy and I would be the happiest parents on the face of the earth. So I was wondering, how much do you love making us happy?

She’s teething.

The fits are insane. She follows me around and then when I stop, she throws herself down to the ground. Added to that, school’s been out for a while so Niknik’s been home more and taking up more of my time. Dave’s been working both jobs with no days off, until today. I’ve been working on some stuff for my friend’s school project that I promised I would do and couldn’t back out of anymore. Plus, it’s that time of the month. Could you just see me breaking down really soon?

Too bad she didn’t teeth during the time the family was here, because then I’d get some help with her and everything else. Good thing is, Nik goes back to school tomorrow, I’ve finished the first part of the project, and Dave’s schedule is back to normal.

I feel so bad for her because there isn’t much we could do for her but give her some tylenol and console her. How do I know she is and was really teething this time? I’ve got proof. There’s a new tooth that just popped out.

That would make it tooth #7.

The past two days Maeby has been sleeping through the night. Normally she would wake up around 1:00AM and then again at 4:30AM or so. Then she gets up at 7:00AM and refuses to go back to sleep. After getting into bed past midnight every night, you may be able to imagine how tired I’ve been.

It’s been nice the past two mornings. I’ve been able to get just a little bit more sleep. I just hope that it continues. I need more sleep these days because I have to have the energy to keep up with Maeby and her big sister. They wear me out, but I love them. Believe me, they are lucky they are cute!!

Here’s a picture of Maeby wearing a cute t-shirt from a good friend of mine.

Believe me, she did.

Maeby is VERY allergic to dairy.

Over the weekend, grandma had the girls while we went apartment hunting. They had mashed potatoes and gravy. They used milk in the mashed potatoes. She ate some. An hour later, she was throwing up all her food. A little while after that, she was throwing up again. I think in total, she threw up 5 or 6 times. She seemed better by the time we got back and was able to hold down her formula. Then when we were all sleeping, she threw up again.

Last night she had ONE cheeto and now she has a rash all over her body. Gave her some Benedryl and just waiting for it to go away.

poor Baeby. *sigh*

in other happier news

Lorelai stands a lot longer now and with more confidence. When we put her down she automatically stands. She also does a little dance to show you that she’s good. I love the little smile she has while doing that, it makes me happy knowing she’s happy knowing we’re watching.
